From 11 October 2026 to 30 August 2027, the Verona headquarters of Fondazione Cariverona and UniCredit will host a new exhibition project dedicated to Marinella Senatore. Featuring a large-scale light installation, two tapestries, and a selection of artworks from the collections of the two institutions, the exhibition explores themes of community, memory, and public space. The opening event will take place on Saturday, 10 October at 9:30 PM, during ArtVerona.
What shape does a space take when it is inhabited by a plurality of voices? How do communities and landscapes create and transform one another? And how can we make visible those relationships that, although often remaining unseen, determine the ways in which places are built, experienced, and continuously reshaped?
These questions form the starting point for The Shape of Space. Marinella Senatore for the Collections of Fondazione Cariverona and UniCredit, on view in Verona from 11 October 2026 to 30 August 2027. The exhibition is presented by Fondazione Cariverona and UniCredit at their respective venues in Via Forti 3/A and Via Garibaldi 1, in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Verona, ArtVerona and Urbs Picta, and curated by Jessica Bianchera, Luca Bochicchio and Monica Molteni.
A Piazza of Light for the City
The exhibition originates from a commission to Marinella Senatore, one of Italy’s most prominent internationally acclaimed contemporary artists, to create an installation inspired by the tradition of luminarie for the institutional headquarters of Fondazione Cariverona.
The new monumental illuminated candelabrum will transform the courtyard of the historic building into a public square: a place of speech, encounter and collective participation. The phrases woven through the work invite visitors to shift their perspective, suggesting that no landscape exists without relationships, that every voice changes the chorus, and that new forms of togetherness require new words through which they can be imagined.
The installation will be unveiled to the public on Saturday, 10 October 2026 at 9:30 PM, during ArtVerona, with a special evening featuring a musical performance and DJ set curated by Path Festival, and will remain on view until 30 August 2027.
At Fondazione Cariverona, the exhibition will feature works including Woman Swimming Underwater (c. 1941-42) by Arturo Martini, alongside contemporary works such as Home to Go (2001) by Adrian Paci, Umumalayika (2009) by Martina Bacigalupo, and Il monte analogo (2005) by Sandrine Nicoletta. Visitors will also encounter Piero Pizzi Cannella’s World Map “To Leave” (2002-2009), leading into a journey through landscapes and cities represented by Gabriele Basilico, Luigi Ghirri, Vanessa Beecroft, and Francesco Jodice.
The portrait section establishes a dialogue spanning more than four centuries, from the seventeenth century to 2015, including works by Umberto Boccioni, Massimo Campigli, and Angelo Dall’Oca Bianca.
At the UniCredit venue, an artwork by Marinella Senatore will be displayed alongside works by three contemporary women artists: Silvia Camporesi, Maria Friberg (Belonging, 2011), and Minjung Kim (Full of Emptiness, 2006).
