    Stefano Cagol (Trento, 1969)

    Born in Trento in 1969, Stefano Cagol graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 1993 after studying at the Art Institute. He continued his education through international experiences, including Ryerson University in Toronto, as well as research programs and residencies in Europe and the United States.

    Cagol focuses on major social and environmental issues, with a strong conceptual approach and constant attention to global concerns. Working across video, photography, installation, and performance, his practice falls within Eco Art and Land Art, featuring site-specific interventions and symbolic actions that engage with landscape and society.

    Among his most significant solo exhibitions are Works 1995–2015 (MART, Rovereto, 2016), Hyperobject (MA*GA, Gallarate, 2019), The Time of the Flood (CCA, Tel Aviv, 2020–21), Primaparete: The Diviner (GAM, Verona, 2021–22), and We Are the Flood (MAC, Lissone, 2023). He has participated in numerous group shows and international biennials, including the Venice Biennale (55th and 59th editions), Manifesta 11, Singapore Biennale, Cairo Biennale, and Curitiba Biennale.

    He has received awards such as the Terna Prize (2002, 2009), the “Visit” award from E.ON Stiftung (2014), and twice the Italian Council (2019, 2023). His works are held in public and private collections, including MART (Rovereto), MA*GA (Gallarate), Museion (Bolzano), and ZKM (Karlsruhe).

    Today, the artist lives and works between Trento.
