Biography
Ottorino Davoli (Reggio Emilia, Italy, 1888 – Venice, Italy, 1945)
Born in Reggio Emilia in 1888, Ottorino Davoli moved to Milan in 1903, where he trained at the prestigious Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Between 1908 and 1910, he travelled to Rome, Florence, and Venice on a study tour, in which he absorbed new artistic influences. These inspirations would later shape the works he exhibited in numerous solo shows held between 1912 and 1923.
From 1924, Davoli taught Figure and Ornamentation at the Gaetano Chierici School of Drawing in Reggio Emilia, where he also designed the façade of the Church of San Francesco.
In 1934, he was appointed Professor of Ornamentation at the Venice art high school. Two years later, in 1936, he took part in the 20th edition of the Venice Biennale.
He died in Venice in 1945.
