The Giorgio Conti Foundation is promoting the exhibition In gioco. Illusione e divertimento nell’arte italiana 1850–1950 at Palazzo Cucchiari in Carrara, opening on Saturday, June 28, and running until Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Curated by Massimo Bertozzi, the exhibition will feature around 110 works – including bronze and wooden sculptures – by about eighty artists.
Among these works are two masterpieces from the UniCredit Art Collection:
Donna che fuma (1950) and Caccia alle allodole (1942) by Antonio Donghi, the master of magical realism.
The exhibition is divided into four thematic sections, not arranged chronologically: it begins with “Daily Pastimes and Recreations,” followed by “Growing and Learning: Child’s Play,” “Entertainment and Shows: The Invention of Leisure Time,” and finally “Challenges, Competition, and Fate.”
