Parallel Vienna provides a platform for artists to present their creations and engage with a diverse audience. Visitors have the opportunity to explore thought-provoking installations, interact with artists, and immerse themselves in the dynamic atmosphere of the contemporary art scene.
The Concept
Parallel Vienna is a mixture of art fair, exhibition platform and artist’s studio that takes place in Vienny every September. It combines exhibitions by commercial galleries, off-spaces and art associations and individual presentations by selected artists (artist statements or artistic interventions in the building, which are invited directly by parallel Vienna). Instead of the usual stands at art fairs, each exhibitor will occupy their own space in a vacant building temporarily used by parallel Vienna. These site-specific artworks and interventions are the hallmark of Parallel Vienna and make the fair a unique and alternative exhibition format outside the “white cube” as a curated art fair, participation is only possible by invitation from the curatorial team.
At this year’s Parallel Vienna, UniCredit Bank Austria AG offers an innovative insight into the UniCredit Art Collection. Visitors not only experience artworks on-site but also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in parts of the extensive collection, which spans Italy, Austria, and Germany using virtual reality glasses, allowing them to experience the art in a completely new way.
Due to the severe weather conditions in Austria and in Vienna the event had to be postponed and will continue the 21. and 22. of September.
