Donghi's Il Giocoliere stars at the Tocatì festival - Verona

From 14 June to 29 September 2024 the Museo di Castelvecchio will host Antonio Donghi's Il Giocoliere, a work from the UniCredit Art Collection, chosen as the ambassadorial artwork of Arte in gioco, an exhibition format linked to Tocatì - Festival Internazionale dei Giochi in Strada. The artwork was chosen for its symbolic relevance in relation to the theme of homo ludens and for its subtle reminder of the ever-present value of the art of the past.

In 2022, Tocatì was included in the UNESCO Register of Good Practices for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This important international recognition also derives from the ability of this programme and of the Tocatì Festival in particular to build spaces of inclusion and equality in touristy and particularly urbanised areas, while promoting encounters, the peaceful coexistence of diversity and freedom of expression.

The first edition of Arte in gioco follows a city thematic path that will involve, from 12 to 15 September 2024, the venues and collections of the Civic Museums, and of other cultural institutions in Verona, with a rich programme centred on the theme of play, from exhibition itineraries to playful activities, from guided tours to children's workshops.

The format will devote special attention to the relationship between ancient and contemporary art, also with the contribution of artists in dialogue with the collections on display in the venues of the integrated museum system and the museums and cultural venues participating in the initiative. Among the institutional partners is the ICPI Istituto Centrale per il Patrimonio Immateriale of the Ministry of Culture.
