From the 9th of February to the 26th of May 2024, we will be the Main sponsor of Antonio Donghi's exhibition – “La magia del silenzio” – hosted at Palazzo Merulana in Rome.
Antonio Donghi was one of the greatest interpreters of Magic Realism in Italy, maturing in the shade of the Return to Order. This period, marked by a retreat from the avant-garde excesses and a quest for stable references following the turmoil of war, pushed Donghi to seek “abstract concreteness” in his artistic career. Within the canvas, he crafted a super-reality that, beneath its apparent verism, revealed a veil of fantastical transformation. His abstract yet realistic imagery left an indelible impression on both scholars and the general public. After many decades of critical silence since the 1980s, he is now considered one of Italy’s leading artists.
Antonio Donghi has entrusted his canvases with landscapes, still lifes, portraits, figures in interiors and exteriors, and circus and avant-garde characters, which are shown to the public thanks to the curatorship of Fabio Benzi, Professor of Contemporary Art History at the University "G D'Annunzio" of Chieti-Pescara. The curator selected 34 works, 16 of which were lent by the UniCredit Art Collection.
Don't miss the chance to enter the magical world of Antonio Donghi!
