Christian Ludwig Attersee: Austriaco, 1940

È considerato uno dei più importanti esponenti della pittura figurativa in Europa degli ultimi 50 anni.

    Christian Ludwig Attersee (Bratislava, Slovacchia 1940)

    Nato nel 1940, negli ultimi sette decenni Christian Ludwig Attersee, al secolo Christian Ludwig, ha realizzato un corpus consistente di opere, spaziando dalla pittura alla musica, dalla fotografia ai video fino alla scenografia e al design. La vela, l'acqua e le condizioni climatiche sono stati temi ricorrenti nel suo lavoro, ispirati dalla sua formazione nei pressi del lago Attersee, nell'Alta Austria, dove è diventato un velista pluripremiato, al punto da scegliere proprio di usare Attersee come nome d'arte.

    I primi lavori di Attersee sono audaci dipinti dai colori vivaci che raffigurano oggetti della vita quotidiana, con umorismo e ironia. Dopo un breve coinvolgimento nel movimento degli Azionisti viennesi, a partire dalla metà degli anni Settanta Attersee ha sviluppato il proprio stile astratto e viene spesso descritto come il fondatore della "Nuova pittura austriaca". Profondamente ispirati dal suo legame con il mondo degli elementi e delle forze naturali, in quanto velista, i suoi dipinti offrono gioiose esplorazioni della natura, del corpo umano e della sessualità, mescolando realtà e fantasia con pennellate sciolte e colori accesi.

    Attersee ha studiato architettura scenica e pittura all'Accademia di Arti Applicate di Vienna. Nel corso della sua carriera, oltre alla pittura e alle belle arti, si è dedicato anche alla musica, alla scrittura e al cinema. Dal 1990 al 2009 Attersee ha insegnato design sperimentale, pittura, film d'animazione e arte dell’arazzo all'Università di Arti Applicate di Vienna.

    Ha ricevuto diversi riconoscimenti: il Premio d’Arte austriaco per le Arti Visive nel 1983; l'Anello d'Onore della Città di Linz nel 1998; il Gran Premio di Stato austriaco per le Belle Arti, sempre nel 1998; la Gran Decorazione d'Onore in argento per i Servizi alla Repubblica d'Austria nel 2019.
