Antonella Zazzera (Todi, Perugia, Italy, 1976)

Born in Todi in 1976, Antonella Zazzera studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, where she graduated in 1999.

She began her research by studying chiaroscuro and the role of light in shaping form. Her interest in mark‑making and traces initially brought her close to the graffiti of Brassaï and Dubuffet, but her work soon evolved toward a more dynamic and three‑dimensional dimension.

Copper became the central material in her practice, which the artist weaves by hand following an almost intuitive process: a fabric of wires that builds surfaces and forms in which light reflects and vibrates. Through variations in shape, color, and thickness, Zazzera creates sculptures defined by strong visual tension and refined technical complexity.

Her work has been featured in major exhibition contexts: Sèvres Outdoors (2016), Château Kairos at the Castle of Gaasbeek (2017), the exhibition Disegni di Scultori (2018), and Tisser, tresser… quand la sculpture défile at the Villa Datris Foundation.

In 2019 the gallery dedicated a solo exhibition to her, LUMINESCENCE. In 2023 the monograph Antonella Zazzera. Tensioni Armoniche was published, featuring texts by Arnaldo Pomodoro and Federico Sardella.

The artist currently lives and works in Todi.
