    Kateřina Šedá (Brno, Czech Republic, 1977)

    Born in Brno in 1977, Kateřina Šedá graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2005, where she studied under Vladimír Kokolia.

    Her artistic practice focuses on conceptual and social art, with projects involving local communities and public spaces.

    Her works stem from social investigations and evolve into participatory actions, intertwining urban planning, architecture, politics, and interpersonal relationships. Among her most notable projects: There’s Nothing There (2003), Mirror Hill (2010), and No Light (since 2010), presented at Tate London and the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo.

    Šedá acts as a director of the public context, aiming to mend social fractures through shared experiences, where artistic production is the final step in a therapeutic and political process.

    She currently lives and works between Prague and Brno.
