    Alfredo Pirri (Cosenza, Italy, 1957)

    Born in Cosenza in 1957, Alfredo Pirri studied at the Academies of Fine Arts in Florence, Milan, and Rome.

    His artistic practice spans multiple disciplines: painting, sculpture, architecture, and installation. His first solo exhibitions date back to the 1980s.

    In 1988, he exhibited at the Venice Biennale, and in 1999 he was one of the featured artists in the group show Minimalia: An Italian Vision in 20th Century Art at MoMA PS1 in New York.

    In 2015, the British School at Rome highlighted this aspect of his work through an exhibition/seminar in dialogue with German artist Thomas Schütte. That same year, AMACI selected him as the leading artist for the 11th Contemporary Art Day.

    In 2015/2016, he served as Advisor in Visual Art at the American Academy in Rome.

    Pirri has taught at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, Sapienza University of Rome, and the Academies of Fine Arts in Urbino, Palermo, and Frosinone.

    The artist currently lives and works in Rome.
