Biography
Veneto area (18th century)
During the 18th century, Veneto was an extraordinarily vibrant region, driven by the propulsive thrust of Venice, the centre of the international art scene, which attracted artists of all kinds.
Glass, lace, publishing, engraving, painting, sculpture, textiles – all these languages contributed to a renewed era of excellence.
The taste for oriental exoticism, along with the availability of silver, combined with the new social rituals of coffee and chocolate, called for precious, varied, and constantly renewed creations.
The guiding principle of this 18th-century art is a new luminosity, which gradually gained more prominence in the palettes of artists who, in their extraordinary views, skilfully balanced the study of perspective with the effects of natural light.
