Biography
Diamante Faraldo (Aversa (Caserta), Italy, 1962)
Born in 1962 in Aversa, in the province of Caserta, Diamante Faraldo attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. In 1984 he began his first solo exhibitions in Naples (Castel dell'Ovo) and Grenoble.
In 1986, he moved to Berlin to further his artistic studies.
His artistic production is divided into eight periods from 1986 to 2016. The artist focuses on different representations of reality, ranging from the geographical to the political. A profound reflection on the evolution and concept of the West, combined with an investigation into the role of the artist.
With his works, Faraldo contrasts the bombardment of images to which contemporary society is subjected.
He uses austere, ulic and ancient materials that he compares with the materials of today, which are much more ductile than the industrial era, processed in such a way as to cause a loss of perception of boundaries, forcing us to take a close and attentive look.
On his return from Germany, he settled in Milan, where the artist now lives and works.
