Biography
Massimo Kaufmann (Milan, Italy, 1963)
Born in Milan in 1963, Massimo Kaufmann attended classical studies and the Faculty of Philosophy.
The artist uses different and numerous means of expression, arriving at the commonly understood pictorial production at the end of the 1990s.
Particularly attentive to the aesthetic component, a formal and chromatic rigour is perceptible in his works, which becomes a distinctive feature of his canvases.
Between the end of the 1980s and the early 2000s, he collaborated with some of Italy's leading galleries and museums such as Studio Marconi, Lia Rumma, Galleria Emilio Mazzoli, Gianenzo Sperone, the Museo Pecci in Prato, Pac in Milan and the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Bologna, as well as with numerous international institutions, Fondation Cartier, Martin Gropius Bau, Sperone-Westwater, Bronx Musem, Musee d'Art Contemporaine in Nice.
In recent years, his work has focused on abstract painting where the performative aspect plays a central role and where colour is understood as an emotional vehicle.
Today the artist lives and works between New York and Milan.
