    Marco Tirelli (Rome, Italy, 1956) 

    Born in Rome in 1956, Marco Tirelli studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Toti Scialoja. He began exhibiting in the late 1970s, and participated in his first Venice Biennale in 1982.

    Throughout the 1980s, he was involved in numerous group shows in Italy and abroad.

    At the beginning of the 1990s, the American Academy in Rome featured a series of his works alongside Sol LeWitt's Wall Drawings. He then participated in the XLIV Venice Biennale, where he had his own personal exhibition room. Over the years, his national and international acclaim grew. 

    Recent shows include: "Osservatorio" at Fondazione Pescheria in Pesaro, 2014; "Proportio" at Palazzo Fortuny in Venice, 2015. 

    Between 2016 and 2017, he exhibited at Fondazione Cerere in Rome, Musée d’art moderne et contemporain in Saint-Etienne Métropole, and the Sala delle Pietre in the Municipal Palaces of Todi. 

    In 2018, he held a series of solo exhibitions abroad – in Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Antwerp. He also created the work "Proteo" for Rome's MAXXI, which has been on show since 2019.

    His pieces are part of important institutional collections including the Farnesina Art Collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome, the European Parliament Art Collection, MART – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, Mumok – Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig in Vienna, and the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts in Taiwan.
