    Gabi Trinkaus (Graz (AT), 1966)

Gabi Trinkaus was born in Graz in 1966. She graduated from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna in 1997.

Her work is mainly focussed on collages. Her collages often depict portraits or urban landscapes. The material for this often comes from magazines, which, in combination with empty spaces and sparsely used drawings, allow the people to appear on the canvas. She describes herself as a ‘media thief’ and often uses materials from fashion and advertising. The title of the work is also often included in the collage. She also illustrated the then President of Austria, Heinz Fischer, for an official portrait in 2009.

In the course of her career, the artist has travelled the world with her works. Her art has been exhibited at Art Basel, Frieze, the Armory Show in New York, the Galleri Andersson/Sandström in Stockholm and also at the Kunsthalle Wien. The most recent exhibition was at the Odon Wagner Gallery in Toronto, Canada in 2024.

The artist lives and works in Vienna.
