Biography
Antonio Gionima (Venice, Italy, 1697 – Bologna, Italy, 1732)
Antonio Gionima was born in Venice in 1697 into a family with a background in the arts, as his parents were also painters.
He initially received training from Aureliano Milani, whose style was deeply influenced by the Neo-Carracci movement.
Later in his career, he followed Milani to Rome, joining his workshop.
While in the city, he also frequented Giuseppe Maria Crespi’s studio. The artist was greatly impressed by Gionima’s vivid style and drawings.
Antonio Gionima died in Bologna in 1732.
