Gerolamo Lanino (Vercelli, Italy 1555 - Vercelli, Italy 1589)
Born in Vercelli in 1555, Girolamo is one of the three sons of the artist Bernardino Lanino with whom he worked, in 1580, on the tabernacle for the church of the Madonna di Campagna in Verbania.
The workshop of Girolamo and his brother Pietro Francesco created numerous artworks for the churches in Piedmont.
Shortly before his death, in 1589, Girolamo signed and dated the frescoes in the chapel of the Annunciation in the parish church of Candia Lomellina, depicting the Nativity, the Adoration of the Magi, the Prophets, the Angels and a frieze with the Allegory of Time. In these frescoes the figures, especially the angels in the vault, were modelled on sketches made by his father several years earlier to decorate the church of Saint Francis in Vercelli.
